Weekend

yesterday was my cousins wedding.  everything was set up so beautifully, and it was so much fun! i'm so happy and excited for their new life to begin.

i am sunburnt. exhausted.

Oh, Light!

"it's that rare sort of light outside that appears when the clouds are heavy of rain and it's almost evening."

i can't explain how much i appreciate light.  the sun is such an amazing being that blesses us everyday. i hope that beautiful energy never runs out....(by the way, that first photo is of Drew Barrymore!)
all found on the Lolita blog.

Only In Japan

i'm probably going to overkill this since it has been covered quite thoroughly already (by iinekore, hello sandwich, gotasalviento, and 2 or 3 things i know) ...but i just can't help myself!

i am TOO inspired by Tsuyatsuya Kurosawa's photos of Tokyo's potted plants.  i am in love with this lifestyle!!  it pretty much sums up and encompasses my reason for this obsession.

upon finding 2 or 3 things i know blog, a stunning photo on her page caught my eye which led me to these amazing photos by Asako Narahashi.  this first one of Fuji-san is so striking.

New Plants + Magazine

today, i potted some new friends on this breezy day.  in the third picture, you can see my egglings did some growing.  one of them even sprouted a flower!

below are some of my favourites from Japanese fashion magazine, Mens Non-No, that i bought the other day.

i'm taking a 'literature & film writing intensive' class this summer. its quite interesting as we critique films in class, but we have so much outside reading to do. it gets very boring...

apart from today's nice breeze we got lucky with, Hawaii's summer heat is killer!  its so muggy and the vog (volcanic fog) is building up. its a really unpleasant feeling unless you're at the beach.

Soul Sister

this is Malisa.  my best friend, other half, my equal.  she is the most beautiful light in my life, in every way.  i want to share some moving words she amazed me with...

she was feeling down at work, and her co-worker said to her:
"when you're feeling depressed and sad, it's as if your whole world is going through a storm.  but the beautiful part about life is learning how to dance in the rain."

and today she texted me:
"BECAUSE YOU ARE ALIVE, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE."

Japan Love

HUGE HUG to the wonderful Ebony (Hello Sandwich) who so generously took time to do an interview on me about Japan and all its glory!!  she's so sweet, and did an amazing job on the piece which she also included some pictures i took on my trip!  i'm actually drinking a Kirin Ichiban beer right now, so cheers to Ebony!

and speaking of my Japan trip, above is a picture taken by amazing freelance photographer Bart Pogoda.  in this beautiful moment of capturing these two schoolmates saying bye to each other in the middle of Tokyo, he somehow (by chance!) caught ME in the background, right in the middle of this magical moment!!  isn't that crazy!? i dont even remember seeing this :-p
