new hair cut
After growing my hair out for 3 years and enjoying putting it up in a bun (when it was down, it reached all the way to the middle of my back!), I finally made the big move and cut it all off into this fun new style! I really appreciated my long hair and grew quite attached to it since it took so long to grow out, and I guess it's been through a lot with me, but at the same time I am more than thrilled to have this new hair cut. I feel much more mature and fresh with it!
The reason it came time to cutting it was mainly for the job opportunity in Japan, since I had to send in a recent photo of myself with my application along with all the other important paper works. But even if not for that reason, I am still happy to have this fun new hair style that everyone else seems to enjoy too! I hope you all like it as well :-D

Miqqi's cafes...
can you imagine yourself enjoying your own company in one of these charming little cafe's... just reading your favourite book or a new magazine while sipping a fresh cup of slowly roasted coffee with a warm plate of homemade cake or pasta.... ooh the joy of calm and the art of relaxing is such a beautiful thing. these kinds of places are all very important factors of why Japan is so special to me. いいかんじですね。ほんとうにしあわせ。
speaking of Japan, i just sent in my first application the other day for a job offer to work and live in Japan! i have some other company's in mind that i will try apply to, and some potential offers my friends are trying to hook me up with through connections, so wish me luck!!! がんばりまーす!
also, tonight i'm boarding a plane to Oklahoma for my best friends wedding this weekend! i'll try take some photos to share when i come back, so see you all later!
いってきます!♥

'I Wish' by Koreeda Hirokazu
i finally watched 'I Wish' by Koreeda Hirokazu who made a whole bunch of other films i loved, like Nobody Knows, Still Walking, and Air Doll. most of his films deal with family situations but from the child's point of view, encompassing a more delicate and observing perspective with innocence and maturity as a wonderful contrasting factor.
this film shows two brothers separated by their parents divorce and how their two worlds are completely different in character and situation. the eldest son is much more mature and responsible with a more realistic view of the world, and the younger son is more like his father (the handsome Joe Odagiri), who is a free-spirited artist with almost no cares in the world. without giving away too much of the film, these two brothers try to rekindle their parents by making a very special journey with their friends for a "miracle" to happen, and along the way this film speaks of many deep and inspiring life lessons that we all can relate to as adults. with Koreeda's signature simplistic cinematography, this melancholy yet uplifting film will pull at your heart strings but also cheer you up with it's childlike silliness.
if you have Netflix available to you, please watch this film if you haven't already because it is currently streaming now!

Another-Case
this blog has a lot of cool things to look at.
and so i started my classes at the Hawaii Potters Guild last week and i am so happy with it! i already made a tea cup and a bowl on my first day, but still has to go through the different firing and glazing processes, so they will be ready in a while. but i can't wait to go back in and create much more! this is a 3 month program and i can use their studios as much as i want, so hopefully i will come out of it with a lot of great things. i will definitely update about my progress and share some pieces i make along the way...
